Choose layout
A guide to selecting the right layout
#Use the decision tree
Start by using the decision tree below to identify the most suitable layout for the user's primary goal. The questions will guide you to a recommended layout type.
#Start at the top
Begin by identifying the user's primary goal with the content/feature.
#Follow the branches
Answer the questions to narrow down your choices.
#Consider content
Once you reach a layout recommendation, further refine it based on the nature of your specific content.
#Iterate and test
Remember, this is a guideline. Test your chosen layout with users to validate its effectiveness.
These layouts are best understood as standardized categories for page structures, not as rigid templates. The goal is to maintain design consistency for similar user purposes. By using these established structures, we prevent creating multiple different layouts that all serve the same goal, which is why the names are intentionally broad.
