• Check if the icon already exists in our library
• Consider whether a text label might be more effective

#Creating icons

• Use this template
• Reference Material Symbols for style consistency
• Follow our iconography guidelines
• Test for accessibility—icons must be immediately clear to diverse users

#Before review

• Choose a clear, concise name that describes the icon
• Explain the concept and specific use cases
• Document any accessibility considerations
• All new icons must be reviewed at a Design Critique before being added to the library

#Review process

• Contact #ux on Slack to join a Design Critique session
• Approved icons are added to the library by the design system team
• This two-step process prevents icon bloat while ensuring quality
